Home Blood Pressure Monitoring

It is not always necessary for you to attend the surgery to have your blood pressure monitored.  You can monitor your blood pressure at home using a monitor very similar to what the doctors use at the surgery.

Tips for Checking Your Own Blood Pressure

There are certain factors that can cause blood pressure to temporarily rise. For example, blood pressure normally rises as a result of:

  • Stress
  • Smoking
  • Cold temperatures
  • Exercise
  • Caffeine
  • Certain medicines

Try to avoid as many of these factors as you can when taking your blood pressure. Also, try to measure your blood pressure at about the same time each day. Please click on the link for a Home Blood Pressure Monitoring Form.  Once completed with your details you can drop it to the surgery for your GP to review.
